Do You Know Your Parrot Can Help You Escape Too?
According to the Columbian Newspaper ‘El Heraldo‘, on 16th September 2010, the police arrested a parrot for allegedly helping drug dealers escape, in the city of Barranquilla, during a raid on their hideout.
Everyone managed to escape from the house as the parrot, named Lorenzo (real name Cuchi), raised an alert by saying, "Run, run or the cat will get you!"
Cuchi, who had been trained to alert residents upon the arrival of the police, was taken into custody and subsequently handed over to an animal rights organization.
A police officer told the newspaper that while the bird was being taken away in a car, it kept on saying, "Run, run, run!".
The bizarreness of the story aside, it got me thinking that we all have a parrot inside us, that is wiling to be trained, to alert us of the danger of getting caught in the wrong circumstances, before we get “caught up” in them, sometimes for life.
We usually call this parrot by the name of Intuition or our Sixth Sense. It has amazing abilities and just like Chuchi it can learn to talk and say, “Run, run, run” just when we are about to make a mistake that can cost us a lifetime of unwanted circumstances.
How do we train our Intuition? Just like we can train Chuchi. By acknowledging it’s presence and cultivating a faith in it’s abilities to learn and a confidence in ourselves that we can teach it to communicate with us, in our favor.
It takes persistence, practice, perseverance and a lot of hard work. Then all of a sudden, our hard work pays off, and one day, when we are least expecting it, we hear our Intuition speak loud and clear, saying, "Run, run or the cat will get you!".
I’ll urge you to consider training your Chuchi because I know one day you’ll thank me for it after thanking your Chuchi.
And as a footnote to this post here is the poor Chuchi behind bars.
SHARING IS CARING

What a bizarre story. I think really we all have an instinct within us that some where and some how does alert us, but some recognise this and take appropriate action and others just simple stay unaware.
With me, I get this weird gut feeling which constantly bugs me when I approach danger or get into a situation where I need to be careful. Luckily in Islam we have a guidance call known as ‘Iskithara’ where we ask for guidance and a sign from the creator if the task/project we are due to get involved in good for us or bad. So far I have not been let down for over decade or so.
Good that you are in touch with your intuition as that is one of the greatest abilities that we humans possess.
Thank you for your comment.
Hi Abubakar,
This is for sure strange story. I believe we all should develop our intuition as the more we develop our intuition, the more we will be able to sense what is going to happen. I agree with you that it does take lots of practice thought. Thanks for sharing
Dia,
Yeah I agree with you. We do need to work on this inherent ability in ourselves as it has the potential to benefit us in a number of ways magnificently.
I know animals and birds have lot of intelligence, more than we human give credit for. I am sorry, that poor parrot got caught helping his owners, now who will help him? Parrot only learns like child, what we teach them, it is not parrot’s fault that he was owned by thief.
I wish he can go free!
Well the parrot was subsequently handed over to an animal rights organization. So it got out of the situation with no harm done as well.
Abubakar,
Okay, picture in cage made me feel he was still held captive! Freedom is precious, even for animals.
Well he is with animal rights organization, so take heart, my friend.
