An Open Letter to Sabrina – A Departed Soul

Departed soul Sabrina Hi Sabrina,

How are you doing in your next life? What I know of you, tells me that you must be happily busy, fluttering around like a butterfly, filling the space with the colors of the rainbow for souls to see and wonder about.

I know its been a long time since we chatted on MSN. 5 years to be exact but I hope you know that I conversed with you whenever I felt that you are lingering around me in your soul-form.

Yeah, after you passed away, you managed to create a pass for me to communicate with you somehow.

I remember 2003, the year you entered my life. Boy, you had a way with entering into someone’s life in an unforgettable way.

When I asked you how did you manage to message me on MSN when you were not even in my buddy list, you just winked at me. Later you told me that you just felt like you have to speak with me as you were browsing the MSN Member Directory. Chance encounter? No. Now I realize that it was synchronicity.

You did get me when you told me, upon my enquiry that you were born on 10 June 1971. I thought you are just playing with me. How could you know my date of birth? Maybe that was one thing you said in our first 4 hours long chat that initially made me curious and prompted me to get to know you — the girl with the same date of birth as mine.

Why is it that sometimes when people are at their worst, someone, something, just happens to them and their direction in life changes? Just like you happened to me and changed my direction from disillusion to purpose, from escapism to meaning. You see, I haven’t stopped asking questions yet. That’s what you always liked about me, didn’t you?

Do you know the distance from Detroit, Michigan USA to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia? 9293.2 Miles. I just checked it from Google again as I checked back in 2003 once. How far are you from me now? Can you tell me? I know what you are saying. “Sunny, distances don’t matter. The connection does.”

Today I felt this need to talk to you and so I’m writing this open letter. I will post it on my website for every one to read. Maybe someone needs to read your following words, which, I take the liberty to quote from one of your last emails to me, dated 01 Dec 2003.

Calvin Coolidge said:

“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

Sunny, the greatest virtue in this world is to touch a heart, the hardest task in this world is to influence a heart, the biggest victory in the world is to win the hearts.

Great people are called "Great" because they were the most influential people of their times and their influence was not due to being in power like a king, but by virtue of touching, influencing and winning the hearts of common people.

It’s needless to say that you have been blessed with the virtue of touching the hearts with the power of your words. You know it more than I do.

Negate your lower self, leave no traces of pride in you, you are nothing but flesh and bones on which you don’t and never had any control either.

Surrender yourself in the serenity of the ultimate truth and become a true prisoner of hope. And you will get what you are looking for — determination and the cause of your being.

Put a soul into your writings, words are incomplete messengers without it. Then go ahead and win the hearts, win this world and thank your Creator for giving you a chance in this mortal world.

Waiting for the safe return of my friend on this journey.

Sabrina :-)

Suddenly, I feel my eyes getting wet as I write this and with that a gentle touch on my shoulder. Is it your hand, Sabrina?

You left me only with your words. I never heard your voice, because when I wanted to call you, you told me that you are mute and can’t speak. I never saw your face, not even a picture. I never got to know your exact date of death even. All I  know, through our mutual friend, is that you passed away in Jan 2004 after suffering a stroke, the effect of the brain tumor you had.

You flowed with me in this life for just 3 months and helped me wash away my 32 years of piled up emotional dirt. That’s a feat only you could accomplish. I owe you a lot and I’ll pay my debt by paying it forward. Help me in doing just that till I return safely to you, my friend, from this journey of life on Earth.

Love,

Sunny

P.S. Do they have an internet connection in Heavens? ;-)

Do they have internet connection in heavens? Internet …don't know, connections …oh YEAH !!!
Must I say I found it interesting question to limit your abilities while it is obvious your friend was trying to set you free of any limits. In my humble opinion & experience you don't need internet once you get to know a better way of communication called “inter-soul communication.” It is like telepathy but without any pathological effects ;)
Just get tuned into your inner soul and even a ray of sunlight will get you connected with who ever and where ever :) Any doubts? try it before you buy it and the price….it is so “free” that it will even set you free from all the limitations holding you back.
Now the question is, my friend, are you willing to break the mind limiting chains, cables and connections to get yourself connected for free ;)

This is a beautiful, touching story. Thank you so much for sharing this. Her words of wisdom have truly touched me, and they are very inspiring. I have written about the power of determination before, but not as eloquently as she put it. I am so glad that you shared her words with the world!

Beautiful sentences – she was (is) a very special person.

"Help me in doing just that till I return safely to you, my friend, from this journey of life on Earth."
And another one which indicates that you are very special person too. :)
Sorry for you to lose your friend, lucky for you to have someone special to watch up for you. ;)

    Sunny,

This is very touching and sad story of friendship. Life is amazing, it connects people from all over, some we would otherwise never met. I am so sorry that she is gone and you would not get a chance to know her more but it was great that you got to know her for short time and her memories will be always alive within you.

    • Life definitely is amazing and the way it surprises us and impacts us through certain people, who change our life direction for good, is even more amazing.

      Thanks for your comment Preeti.

In-Credible. Powerful. Very, very touching. Please tell me it's a true story. I stayed up very late and I am so glad that I am closing my night on such a powerful story. Sabrina, the name will never be the same to me again, Abubkar! Loved This Story and the approach to the post, writing a letter to a long lost friend…..Here's hoping you meet again someday.

    • Truth is stranger than fiction, as they say.

I know it's a little hard to digest the way Sabrina came into my life out of nowhere, and guided me in a very positive direction and removed a lot of my internal mess but, it is one of the most powerful truths of my life and will remain so.

Thank you for taking the time to read it and your lovely comment.

    Abubakar

You have honored Sabrina not only by sharing the total beauty of her soul which is reflected in her writing to you but also by doing what she asked

"Put a soul into your writings, words are incomplete messengers without it. Then go ahead and win the hearts, win this world and thank your Creator for giving you a chance in this mortal world."

If there were internet in heaven I think she would be telling you how proud she is of you!

    • Marion,

That is so nice of you to say that I have honored Sabrina through my writing.

It gives me hope and somehow I feel that every time I write something it somehow is inspired by Sabrina's words. That is why I chose this to be the very first post on this blog.
