How to Make Yourself Happy Again

 

How to feel happy again How to feel happy again? The question is common. The answer is not.

I’ll just tell you one secret to happiness and I promise that it will work almost every single time you’ll try it.

Here is the secret.

When you feel down, frustrated, angry, depressed, dejected or anything of the sort and nothing seem to help just do yourself a favor and stop trying to make yourself feel happy again.

Instead, go out and make someone else happy. Do something for someone without the thought of getting anything in return.

It does not have to be something big. You do not have to announce it to the world either. You do not have to even tell the person you are helping, about your help.

The truth is that you are not doing it for someone else. You are doing it for your own self. Acknowledge the truth, be humble and help someone with a pure heart.

It may be anything at all, like:

  • Picking up someone’s laundry for her
  • Making some child smile
  • Talking to some old citizen with attention and respect
  • Helping someone with her luggage
  • Opening the door of a car for someone
  • Helping some blind person cross the street
  • Hugging someone who is feeling down and just being there for her
  • Giving something away
  • Bringing a glass of water to someone
  • Smiling at someone genuinely
  • Greeting someone on the street like you mean it

You get my point. ANYTHING to help, done with the right attitude.

This solution might seem a bit out of this world to you, but I do know one thing for sure and that is that it works, every single time.

Maybe it works because it helps you focus your conscious attention somewhere other than what might be bothering you.

Maybe it works because it helps change your negative mental state into a positive one.

Maybe it works because it helps you get up and use your mind and body for the greater good.

Maybe it works because instead of crying foul and pitying yourself, you put something of value out into the universe and get more of the goodness in return.

Like I said, I don’t know why it works, but it does.

Try it, the next time you are stuck in some negative emotional state and you will be happily surprised, pun intended. :) Then once you are back in your normal self—pay it forward.
