Invitation to Write about Stuff that You Wish You Had Known Earlier in Your Life

Writing invitationEven if we are one year old (which we are not), I am sure we have a few things that we wish we had known earlier.

It may also be possible that even in the wombs of our mothers there might be a few things we might have considered doing differently if we had “known” better, for instance, taking my own example I might have helped her a lot during labor by not insisting on being born in a breech position :)

Evita, a lovely friend I met recently, after reading my post 22 Things I Wish I had Known Earlier in My Life wanted to write a similar post as well drawing on her own life experiences. That led me to think that why not ask my other friends in the personal development niche to write such posts too.

Evita encouraged me to do so and we both believe that it has the potential of helping many people and ourselves too as it would remind us not to repeat our past mistakes, which so commonly happens in real life.

So with this post I encourage all my blogger (and non-blogger) friends who wish to participate in this series of posts to write a post about the things they learnt the hard way in their own lives and publish it on their own blogs and I will link to all of them. So my post will be kind of a directory of such posts. I will also be publishing all such posts in a freely distributable PDF ebook.

  13. Preeti says:

    Abubakar,

I just saw it and count me in. I will post it by this weekend (depending on my 2 little ones tantrum). Sounds so cool.

    • Preeti,

I did it also depending on my two little ones tantrums (one of whom usually goes way beyond just tantrums lol) and I know you will too. :)

I also hope you know that it will be a pleasure for me to see your post included in the Life Lessons Series.

      • Preeti says:

        Abubakar,

How old are your kids? Kids and adults tantrums can be trying at the times, but sure teaches me patience. I have learned to do everything slow and do selected few things on my ever growing list of things to do. Life is little saner this way. I think I might shoot for mid next week, more realistic. :-)

Thanks for initiating such a great post that is so inspiring for many.

  14. 100% recommend doing this. It really is a great exercise and allows you to reflect on some of the most important lessons you have learned. I will keep recommending it. Thanks again Abubakar for reaching out and making this great suggestion.

  15. John says:

    • Zeenat,

So good to see you here and even better that you are back on the surface. :)

Didn't you get my Twitter invitation which I sent to you right when this series was started?

Anyways, I am waiting for your post. :)

  17. Taylor says:

Abubakar, hindsight is 20/20 and this is a great way to help others benefit from it. Please count me in.

  18. Are you still looking for contributions for this project? If so, I'd be delighted to write something.

    Many thanks,
    Eleanor

  19. Please do write Eleanor. :)

  20. Thank you :) Will do. I'll be sure to link here so you'll get a ping back notification thing.

  21. El Edwards says:

    Hi Abubakar :)
Better late than never, I found myself struggling to write a brand new post but instead offer a post I published on Wednesday last week as I think it fits the bill. If needs be, I can edit the ending to suit your ebook format better.

Let me know if it is suitable. Many thanks,
    El

P.S. The post is here: http://www.heavenandel.com/power-story-telling-re…

    • Abubakar Jamil says:

      Eleanor,

      I read your post.

"A couple of days ago I told you about Catherines challenge. She talked about the power of expressed gratitude."

It fit in with Catherine's challenge and it will not be advisable to change the ending.

I'd prefer if you please write a new post with specific lessons you had learnt in your life and I do believe that you can write a wonderful post. Give it a shot.

      • El Edwards says:

        Hi Abubakar :)
Catherine's challenge wasn't a challenge in the traditional sense.

But no worries. I've written a new post. It goes out tomorrow after 6am and I'll come back here and link to it if you don't get a ping back from my blog.

Thanks for your encouragement. Off to bed now (half past midnight here) to sleep soundly.

        Night night,
        El

  22. Hi there Abubakar

My blog is more personality writing than personal development, but as I’ve had to learn so many lessons the hard way in my life so far,I would be delighted to write something for this wonderful collection. Would it be ok if it comes out in a semi-humourous fashion as that is how my style is developing. I haven’t had time yet to read all the posts so far but I’m really looking forward to doing this later. I will have to set aside some time for this project and will hopefully post something very soon. I love your writing and your wisdom. Best wishes Rosemary

  23. I am sending in mine soon. You asked for a personal development blogger. I am both a personal and business development blogger, my life lesson is touching both sides of the spectrum – business and life. Am I welcomed to participate?

  24. Hi Abu Bakar,

I’m in! :) I just sent my link to your email today. I’m so happy being invited as 1 of the participants in your project. Thank you.

I enjoy reading other bloggers’ stories too. They are all very inspirational!
    Keep up good job guys!
