Be Clear About Clarity
Clarity, clearly is not understood. We are too cluttered, inside and outside.
We start from Point A to go to Point B and somewhere in between we get too side-tracked to even remember that we actually wanted to arrive at Point B.
Clarity is like a sharp edged blade that cuts through the clutter and shows us the way.
The whole purpose of all the goal setting routines and exercises is to gain clarity in life.
Clarity can not be acquired, it can only be found.
If you want to find clarity, work on reducing the clutter.
Remove the clutter and clarity will be there already.
Here are a few pointers about gaining clarity in your life
1. Be clear about what you want to do today and how it links to your life purpose.
2. Be clear about the short, medium and long term effects of your daily activities and then try to give more time to activities that will give you the highest long term payoff.
3. Understand that payoff is the satisfaction of knowing that your time was genuinely spent doing what really matters to you. Everything else like money, status, assets etc is the bonus or bi-product of the real payoff.
4. Learn to recognize the clutter around you. Clutter can be activities, thoughts, people, TV programs. surfing, networking or anything that pulls you away from doing what is needed to be done.
5. Train yourself to keep your focus steady on what you consider important, instead of allowing the clutter to lure you.
“Whoever knows he is deep, strives for clarity; whoever would like to appear deep to the crowd, strives for obscurity. For the crowd considers anything deep, if only it cannot see to the bottom: the crowd is so timid and afraid of going into the water.”
-Friedrich Nietzsche

What a great post on clarity! Thank you for sharing these insights, Sunny.
Sunny,
I always get something inspirational and useful at your site. This is a well timed post for me as I’ve been feeling a bit scattered lately. Your suggestions were very good and I’ll give them a try:~)
